Are you taking a flight out of EWR soon? You might want to know more about the airport and EWR Airport parking options, then. Let’s help you with all the info you need on EWR parking.

Located in Newark, New Jersey, Newark Liberty International Airport opened in 1928 and serves an average of around 40 million passengers per year. It’s the 15th-busiest airport in the United States, so you can be sure that parking is expensive and frustrating.

Newark Liberty Airport (EWR) Airport Parking Guide

You may be interested to know that Newark Airport is the oldest airfield in the United States. It was also home to the country’s first commercial airline terminal. However, you are probably more interested in EWR parking rates. So let’s move on to our comprehensive guide to EWR Airport parking.

EWR Airport Parking Guide

EWR parking can be found both at and near the airport. Typically, the farther you get from the airport, the cheaper parking gets.

For all but the closest parking lots, you will need to take a shuttle between your car and the airport. Keep that in mind when you figure out how long it will take you to get to the airport.

How does Newark Airport parking work?

There are three parking lots at Newark Airport – short-term, daily, and economy lots. Travelers who want to park at EWR may select from these three Newark Airport parking facilities but bear in mind that they are highly pricey, especially when compared to Way.com’s cheap EWR parking prices. Spots can be reserved online up to 24 hours in advance, or you can drive up and pay full price.

EWR Parking Rates (On-Site)

Newark Liberty Airport offers a wide variety of parking on-site. They offer valet parking, short-term parking, long-term parking, and a cell phone waiting lot. They even have a few electric vehicles charging stations and special parking for those with limited mobility.

Here is a breakdown of EWR parking rates for on-site parking.

EWR Short Term Parking

If you’re just dropping a passenger off for a flight or catching up with somebody on a layover, you’re probably interested in EWR short-term parking.

EWR short-term parking is charged in half-hour increments. All the EWR short-term parking lots cost $5.25 per half-hour.

The EWR short-term parking lots across from Terminals A and B as well the Terminal C Garage max out at $39 for up to 24 hours. The P4 lot and garage max out at $34 for up to 24 hours. It’s important to note that the P4 garage does not accept cash.

EWR Long-Term Parking

If you’re actually hopping on a flight, it’s much cheaper to take advantage of EWR long-term parking. The EWR On-Airport Economy Lot P6 is located about 3 miles from the airport. You must take a shuttle between the airport and your car.

EWR long-term parking costs $18 for the first 24 hours. After that, the cost is $6 per 8-hour increment (up to $18 per day).

Valet EWR Airport Parking

Don’t want to bother parking your car yourself? EWR airport parking offers valet services next to Lot P4. It’s secure, fast, and provides easy access to all the terminals.

Valet EWR airport parking costs $40 for the first 24 hours, then $20 for each 12-hour period.

EWR Parking for Those with Limited Mobility

People who have up-to-date disabled license plates or other handicapped parking permits have access to EWR parking for those with limited mobility. There are a limited number of spaces in each short-term parking lot reserved for people with limited mobility.

The short-term rate is still $4 per half-hour. However, the 24-hour maximum is capped at $18. You must ask for the limited mobility discount when you leave and pay.

You must have your handicapped parking plates or placards easily visible to use the limited mobility spots. Violators will be towed.

How to Pay EWR Parking Rates

Luckily, EWR offers several ways to pay the EWR parking rates. All lots accept credit cards (Visa, Discover, MasterCard, American Express), debit cards, E-ZPass Plus, and contactless payment (Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay).

Cash is accepted at the short-term Terminal A, B, and C lots and garages. However, cash is NOT accepted at economy lot P6 and daily lot P4.

E-ZPass Plus EWR Parking

The fastest, most convenient way to pay for EWR airport parking is to add E-ZPass Plus to your current E-ZPass. If you drive anywhere in the area of New York City, you probably have an E-ZPass to pay for tolls. Did you know that you can add E-ZPass Plus to pay for parking at various Port Authority locations?

You can use E-ZPass Plus to pay for parking at the following locations, in addition to EWR parking:

  • LaGuardia Airport, NY, NY
  • Albany International Airport, Albany, NY
  • New York Avenue Parking Garage, Atlantic City, NJ
  • JFK International Airport, NY, NY
  • Atlantic City International Airport, Atlantic City, NJ
  • Great New York State Fair, Syracuse, NY (seasonal)

Paying for EWR airport parking is simple with E-ZPass Plus. Once you’ve registered on the E-ZPass Plus website and added funds from a valid credit card, you:

  • Let the gate arms raise when you reach the gate. Allow up to 20 seconds for the system to read your E-ZPass.
  • Do not pull a ticket like you would if you were using another method to pay for your parking.
  • When you leave, follow the purple E-ZPass lanes to exit the parking lot.
  • If your parking costs less than $20, the amount will be taken from your existing E-ZPass account balance.
  • For parking costs over $20, the cost will be taken from the credit card associated with your E-ZPass account.

If at any time you don’t want to use your EZ-Pass, you can simply use the cash or credit card lanes.

Cell Phone Lot for EWR Short Term Parking

If you’re just picking up a passenger, you can avoid paying any EWR parking fees by using the cell phone lot.

You can wait there for free for up to 45 minutes. However, you MUST stay in your car the entire time. Unattended cars will be towed.

You need to wait until the person you’re picking up calls to say they’re at or nearly at the pick-up area. Parking is NOT allowed in pick-up or drop-off areas. You must be actively loading or unloading a passenger.

Passenger Drop-Off and Pick-Up

If you don’t want to see your passenger at the airport, you can use the passenger drop-off and pick-up lanes. Say your goodbyes ahead of time, because there is absolutely no parking in this area. You must be actively loading or unloading a passenger.

However, the nice thing about dropping off or picking up passengers this way is that it’s free.

Online Reserved EWR Airport Parking

Don’t risk coming to the airport only to discover that the lot you wanted to use is full. You can reserve a spot online here and eliminate that risk.

EWR Airport Parking (Off-Site)

You can typically save money by choosing EWR airport parking off-site. You will need to take a shuttle to and from the airport, but you can save up to $10 per day by parking off-site. Or, you can choose the convenience of a parking facility that will wash and detail your car while you’re away.

Here are some off-site EWR parking options.

Cheapest EWR Airport Parking

E-Z Way Airport Parking has rates as low as $7.95 per day, making it one of the cheapest places for EWR long term airport parking. It’s also one of the closest off-site lots to the airport. There is a shuttle leaving for the airport every 5-10 minutes.

Located in the parking lot of a Howard Johnson Hotel, Vista Parking has rates starting at $8.50 per day. This outdoor valet parking lot will even clear snow off your car before giving it back to you.

Highest-Rated EWR Parking

Newark Airport Long-Term Parking is highly rated on Yelp, and it isn’t hard to see why.

They’re only 5 minutes away from the airport terminals. They offer both self-park and valet options. And you can pay for your car to get an oil change, car wash, or detail while you’re gone. Prices for these services are not listed on their website, but the services offered by Newark Airport Long Term Parking include:

  • Exterior wash – Hand wash, wheel cleaning, and tire shine
  • Deluxe wash – Exterior wash plus window shine, wipe down, and interior vacuum
  • Full detail – Full exterior and interior clean, plus seats and carpets shampooed, the exterior waxed, leather cleaned, and rims and tires cleaned and dressed
  • VIP Service – For an additional $50, they will deliver your car to you at the airport, so you don’t need to take a shuttle back to the lot.
  • Gas service – For $10 plus the cost of gas, you can come back to a tank full of gas.
  • Oil change – ASE-certified techs will replace your oil filter and up to 5 quarts of oil. They will also check all lights, check and top off fluids, and check and inflate your tires.

Do you want your car to be protected from snow, hail, or other damaging weather while you’re away? Secure Newark Airport Parking (SNAP) has you covered (literally) with their parking garage within about 5 minutes of Newark Airport.

SNAP has 24-hour surveillance, free airport shuttles, and valet services for your EWR airport parking needs. Their rates aren’t listed but are supposedly low, with no booking fees if you do it through their site. Additionally, SNAP offers car washing and detailing services (for an additional fee).

Other Off-Site EWR Airport Parking

The Parking Spot – Haynes is not that much cheaper than on-site EWR long-term parking, with rates starting at $16 a day for self-park and $21 a day for valet. However, they are well-rated on Yelp.

The Parking Spot runs shuttles every 5-7 minutes and offers free water and a free shuttle-tracking app. They also offer interior and exterior car washes for some parking types.

Jiffy Airport Parking is very close to Newark airport. Rates start at $9.99 per day for outdoor parking. Shuttles run every 5-10 minutes.

Park, Sleep, and Fly EWR Parking Rates

If you have to drive a long way into the city to catch a flight, especially an early morning flight, you may be interested in Park, Sleep, and Fly EWR parking packages offered by hotels near Newark Airport.

With a Park, Sleep, and Fly package, you stay at a hotel at least one night before or after your trip. The parking and a shuttle to and from the airport are included in the price.

Why wake up at 2 am to get to the airport in time for an early flight? Stay in a hotel the night before, get more sleep, and rest easy knowing your car will be safe while you’re out of town.

Are Ride Share Services Cheaper than EWR Airport Parking?

EWR parking rates can be expensive. Is it cheaper to take an Uber, Lyft, or other ride-sharing services to the airport?

The answer is: sometimes. If you live within 5 or 10 miles of the airport, and/or are leaving town for more than 5 to 10 days, it may be cheaper to use a rideshare service than worry about EWR airport parking. Get rideshare estimates before you leave and compare them to parking rates to find the better value.
