Does the Governors Ball Music Festival have a new venue?
New York’s Gov Ball has had many venues over the years, starting with its inaugural edition at Governors Island in 2011. It was a massive success and broke the attendance record for events on the island. The next year, the festival moved to Randall’s Island and stayed put until the canceled 2020 edition.
After the pandemic, the Governors Ball Music Festival made a grand return in September 2021 and drew over 150K fans to its temporary home in Citi Field’s parking area. The baseball stadium at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park is more accessible than Randall’s Island Park. Headliners Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, J Balvin, and Post Malone also guaranteed the event’s success.
The Governors Ball Music Festival 2022 remained at the parking lots surrounding Citi Field. But in 2023, the 12th edition of the annual event gets a new home. Technically, it’s all the same as Citi Field is in the same neighborhood. But the lush fields of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park with lots of shade is a big upgrade.
When is the Governors Ball this year?
In 2023, Governor’s Ball Music Festival will happen from June 9 (Friday) through June 11 (Sunday). Gates are open from 11:45 am – 10:00 pm on all three days of the festival.
Who will be headlining Governors Ball 2023?
Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo, and Odesza are the headliners for 2023. The Gov Ball will also get its first-ever K-Pop act this year with Aespa on the Saturday (June 10) lineup.
Other big names headed to the Governors Ball 2023 stages are PinkPanthress, Finneas, Lil Nas X, Haim, Rina Sawayama, Suki Waterhouse, Kem Petras, Pusha T, Snail Mail, Lil Uzi Vert, Diplo, Giveon, Lil Baby, and more.

Why is it called Governors Ball, and why is it not on Governors Island?
When the music festival was first held in 2011, it was a single-day event on Governors Island. Hence the name Governors Ball.
After the inaugural year, the Gov Ball moved to Randall’s Island to have room for more acts and attendees. Gov Ball then moved again in 2021 to the easily accessible Citi Field and to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in 2023.
In contrast to Randall’s Island Park, Flushing Meadows in Queens is easily accessible by subway, Long Island Rail Road, bus, bike, scooter, and foot. Also, the weather is not so much of a problem compared to the earlier venue. It large outdoor space can also accommodate multiple stages that allow several artists to perform simultaneously.
How much are Governors Ball tickets?
A three-day General Admission ticket costs $319 + fees ($509 for GA+), while a three-day VIP ticket costs $799 + fees. A three-day Platinum ticket costs $2,499 +fees. Single-Day tickets are also available for $139 (GA), $239 (GA+), and $339 (VIP).
The cost for Cabanas is available only upon request, according to the official website.
How to reach the Gov Ball 2023 venue
