Houston Astros plays their home games at the Minute Maid Park, located downtown in Houston. It is a retractable roof stadium with a natural grass field. The stadium has several former names, including Astros Field, and was built to replace the Houston Astrodome.   

Minute Maid Park can seat over 40,000 fans; stadium seating includes 5197 club seats and 63 luxury suites. The ballpark is packed when the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox visit. The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels are also popular opponents of the Astros.

Where is the Houston Astros stadium located?  

Minute Maid Park, the Houston Astros’ home field, is located at 501 Crawford Street in downtown Houston. It is easily accessible by road or light rail. George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is a half-hour’s drive from the ballpark. William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is closer – only a 15-minutes drive to Minute Maid Park.   

How to reach Minute Maid Park in Houston

You can take the Katy Freeway/East Freeway (I-10), Southwest Freeway/Eastex Freeway (I-69), or Gulf Freeway/North Freeway (I-45), depending on from which direction you are arriving. Get detailed driving directions here, or use the map below to navigate now.   

If you are taking the Hoston metro rail, the closest stations are:  

  • Main Street Square NB – about six blocks from the ballpark, near Commerce Towers  
  • Preston SB – the other option on the Red Line is also a six-block walk from the stadium  
  • Convention District EB – the closest station, only a 3-minute walk to Texas Street. Both purple and green lines stop here.   

You can also use rideshare or taxis to reach Minute Maid Park on game days. If you are early, all streets adjacent to the ballpark are open for drop-offs, including the protected left lane along Texas Avenue. However, the official gameday pick-up/drop-off zone is on Crawford Street, outside the Center Field Gate, between Congress Avenue and Preston Street. Post-game pick-ups are also permitted along Jackson Street, on the ballpark’s south side. However, all cars must be attended to while waiting for fans to exit the stadium.

There are around 25,000 parking spaces near Minute Maid Park – on-street and off-street spots combined. In addition, official Houston Astros parking is available for fans at multiple Minute Maid Parking lots. And yes, single-game parking passes are available – but limited, and all Astros parking lots are cashless.   

The Astros home ballpark location in downtown Houston is a major advantage for hassle-free parking. It is easier to find cheap Astros parking near Minute Maid Park. There are several metered street spots within a few blocks of the stadium, but finding a vacant spot and tracking time limits could be a challenge.

The Houston light rail system has ‘Park & Ride’ facilities at several stations. This is usually free or super cheap, but you’ll still need to walk or get a ride to the ballpark from the station.   

Where are the official Houston Astros parking lots?  

Minute Maid Park has seven official Houston Astros parking lots. These lots are located within walking distance of the ballpark. Most of these on-site lots are reserved for premium parking or Astros season pass holders. Single-game day passes are available for Lot C, while the Diamond Lots with premium entrances is pre-paid parking only.

  • Lot A is located between Milo Hamilton and Chartres streets.  
  • Lot B entrances are located on St. Emanuel Street and Chartres Street.  
  • The largest Minute Maid Park lot – Lot C – is furthest from the ballpark, with entrances on St. Emanuel, Preston, Texas, and Bastrop streets.   
  • Lot D is on the northeast corner of the ballpark and close to the Center Field and Left Field gates. You can access this lot via Congress Avenue.  
  • Lot E is next to Lot D, with its entrance on Preston Street.  
  • Diamond Lot N and Lot S are on the stadium’s west side, closest to Right Field and Home Plate. The entrance is from Congress Avenue and Texas Street.   
  • Bus parking is available on Bastrop Street, three blocks east of US 59. 

Is there street parking near Houston Astros ballpark?  

Plenty of metered street parking is usually available around Minute Maid Park, but there’s no guarantee you’ll find a vacant spot next to the stadium on game days. These spots are also towaway zones after 6 pm on game nights – so it’s better to park a few blocks away.   

The downtown Houston meters end at 6 pm. If you get there early and pay for a couple of hours, you can continue parking at the same spot for free after the meter ends. But, make sure to check posted signs to avoid coming back to a parking ticket at the end of your game night. Look for the baseball ‘P’ on street signs and banners to identify designated public parking zones.

Due to its downtown location, it is easier to find off-site parking near Houston Astros stadium than most other ballparks. However, you must keep the demand on game nights in mind and plan in advance for a hassle-free parking experience. Astros’ home games against Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, and the Rangers attract the biggest crowds.

Houston Astros Parking Tips – Know Before You Go 

  • Tailgating is not allowed at any official Astros parking lots around Minute Maid Park.  
  • ADA/Accessible parking is available at Minute Maid Park Lot A and the Diamond Lot. You can access the limited spots with a valid ADA license plate or placard.   
  • Minute Maid Park gates usually open two hours before the game begins. Once you are scanned in, re-entry is not allowed.   
  • After the game, Houston PD closes Texas Avenue at Crawford Street for 20 minutes to allow safe pedestrian exit from the ballpark. Rideshare/taxi pick-up resumes after this along the stadium’s west and south sides.  
  • Some downtown Houston restaurants and hotels allow their guests to park on the property for free during the game. A few businesses also provide shuttles to the stadium on gamedays. Ask about the availability of these complimentary services ahead of your visit.   
  • If you are parking off-site, park at an affordable garage or designated street on the side you entered downtown. After the game, it is easier to exit the neighborhood in the same direction.
