The windshield washer fluid prank is a famous Tik Tok trend. In the prank, the daughters – in some cases the sons – tell their fathers they paid $150 or more to change their windshield wiper fluid. And what follows is – yes, you guessed it right – a series of funny moments (not for the fathers!) where the dads completely lose it. That’s because changing the wiper fluid should cost you just under $10! With a little know-how, you can easily do it yourself. We’re letting you know how to check the windshield washer fluid and fill it easily in this post. Read on to know more.

How to check the windshield washer fluid – Step-by-step guide

Step 1

First, park your car on a flat surface to check the windshield wiper fluid. If you have used the vehicle recently, wait for a few minutes for the engine to cool before you open the hood.

Step 2

Open the hood and locate the windshield fluid reservoir. In most vehicles, the reservoir is located at the back of the engine bay, near the windshield base, or the front fenders. The reservoir is usually white, translucent with the windshield wiper fluid symbol on the cap. If you’re still unable to locate it, refer to your car owner’s manual, or a simple internet search can help you locate it.

Step 3

Now check the fluid level in the reservoir. Most reservoirs are translucent, which means you can check the level by just looking at it. Some have marks on the reservoir that lets you know the measurement. If you find the fluid level half or less than half, top it up with new fluid.

Step 4

Using a funnel, pour the washer fluid till the fill line. If there’s no fill line, pour the fluid till the reservoir is 3/4 full. The fluid will expand when the car heats up, so don’t fill it fully.

Step 5

Close the cap and hood. Turn on your vehicle and check if the windshield wipers are working properly. If you notice a steady stream of fluid from the washer, it means you’ve completed the process.
