How long does Plasti Dip last?   

If applied properly, Plasti Dip can last for 3 to 4 years. You can apply additional coats on areas that looks slightly faded because of the exposure to harsh conditions.

How to Plasti Dip a – A detailed guide  

Things you’ll need:   

  • Newspapers  
  • Buckets  
  • Goggles  
  • Painter’s   
  • Gloves  
  • Plasti Dip  
  • Rubber gloves  
  • Spray gun and trigger  
  • Microfiber towels  
  • Water  

Step 1

Park your car in an area with good ventilation and space for you to move around. Don’t Plasti Dip in the open as dust can stick on your car. Wear gloves and goggles before you begin the process. 

Step 2   

Prep your car by washing it. Wash your car spotlessly and dry it using microfiber towels. You can also visit an automatic car wash near you to wash your car.   

Step 3  

Cover the windows, windshields, and other places you don’t want to paint using painter’s tape and newspaper. Doing this can prevent the paint from getting sprayed on these places.   

Step 4  

To cover the entire car, you need at least 20 cans of Plasti Dip. You can get the job done with 14 to 16 cans for a small car. If you’re planning to use a spray gun, you will need two one-gallon buckets of Plasti Dip. For a more consistent finish, we recommend using a spray gun.   

Fill the spray gun with Plasti Dip and start painting. Place the gun 5 to 6 inches away from the car and spray in a back-and-forth motion. Don’t pause on any spot or miss out on any spot. Once you’re done spraying, allow it to dry for 30 minutes. This is your first layer. Add 4 to 5 layers with 15-30 minutes intervals between each layer.   

Step 5  

Remove the tape and newspapers before the Plasti Dip dries. Now allow it to cure for at least four hours. Don’t touch any spot while the drying process is on. You can use Plast Dip to paint wheel rims and other car accessories.
