The 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric is a brand-new all-electric model from Hyundai. The sleek model offers increased fuel efficiency and decreased emissions, the two areas of emphasis of the Hyundai electric cars.   

Its price dropped to $34,000, which is lower than the 2021 model. It comes with a revised interior and exterior design from its predecessors. The 2022 Hyundai Kona can travel 258 miles on a single charge, close to Tesla Model 3, which covers 263 miles. The 10-year/100,000 miles warranty of the 2022 Kona Electric covers both battery and power train.   

The blue link connected car system offers pre-heating or cooling, roadside assistance, and battery level monitoring, among the many, operated through the owner’s smartphone.  

It is powered by an electric motor that generates 201 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque. The car runs off a liquid-cooled 64-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It has its charge port on the front of the car, and recharging takes roughly 9.5 hours using a 240-volt charger. The Kona EV can reach 80 percent capacity in 54 minutes at a fast-charging DC station.

The 2022 IONIQ 5 is another all-electric car model from Hyundai. The price of the variants of this model ranges between $39,700 to $54,500. These will be available in California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont and will soon expand to other states.   

This SUV has glass roofs and ample interior space. IONIQ 5 EV goes sustainable inside out with its cabin made of plant-based fibers and recycled plastic. It has a center console that slides forward and back with 5.5 inches of motion where both front travelers can exit through the same door, while rear passengers have easier access to the console’s USB ports and wireless charging pad. The dual displays function for the driver information and the infotainment system. While the thinner back seats provide better space while sitting, and the flexibility of the seats makes room for better cargo space.   

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 will be able to charge at 800-volt charging stations. In just 18 minutes, it can jump from a 10% charge to an 80% charge. It does, however, function with a 400-volt charger, and the charge duration from 10% to 80% is still under 25 minutes.  

The Blue-link connected services enable remote start, vehicle-status notifications, and other functions. IONIQ 5 can turn into a generator with an accessory connector, and it can charge another electric car, laptop, or electric scooter with even a 15 percent charge.   

Hyundai IONIQ 5 comes in RWD and AWD long ranges. The former consists of a permanent-magnet synchronous reluctance motor with a 77.4-kWh battery, 225 horsepower, and 258 lb-ft of torque in a range of 303 miles. The AWD long-range with Two permanent-magnet synchronous reluctance motors runs on a 77.4-kWh battery with 320 horsepower, 446 lb-ft of torque, and offers 256 miles range.

This 2021 model comes in three price ranges, $37,190 for the SEL, $41,800 for the Limited, and $45,400 for the Ultimate. The 2021 IONIQ electric has semi-autonomous driving assistance, rear-collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. The heat pump helps drive during cold weather.   

 The 2021 Hyundai IONIQ has a permanent-synchronous motor with 134 horsepower and 218 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with a 38.3kWh lithium battery which charges in 6 hours on a 240 V connection and up to 80% under 54 minutes on a 100-kW. Hyundai offers a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and an eight-year warranty for the battery.
