After a successful inaugural leg last summer, the aptly named ‘Metal Tour of the Year’ returns for a 23-stop trek across the south and Midwest. Bigger and better, no doubt! You can’t miss the incredible Megadeth, Lamb of God, Trivium, & In Flames tour this time around. Here are all the deets.
In 2021, two of the most iconic metal bands – Megadeth and Lamb of God – got together for a summer tour that grossed $8 million in ticket sales! It was initially planned for a 2020 debut, but the ‘Metal Tour of the Year’ was delayed by you-know-who. In 2021, as the tour finally rolled out, Hatebreed had to be roped in to replace In Flames. International travel restrictions kept the Swedish band from opening the concerts alongside Trivium.
In Spring 2022, the original lineup is back for a second leg of the ‘Metal Tour of the Year.’ While the inaugural leg covered east coast and west coast cities, this year’s schedule focuses on the South and Midwest. The 23-date tour begins on 09 April from Las Vegas and concludes on 15 May in Allentown, PA.

Megadeth Lamb of God Tour 2022 lineup
Metal Tour of the Year is headlined by Megadeth and Lamb of God. The opening acts for the concert are special guests Trivium and In Flames. As per the current schedule, both special guests will open for the legends at all venues, except BOK Center in Tulsa. Trivium is not performing in the southern city.

There were big expectations for Megadeth’s much-awaited 16th studio album – The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead – to be released before the tour kicks off. But fans of the legendary thrash metal band will have to wait till Summer 2022 for the release. Megadeth’s last tour to support an album – Grammy-winning Dystopia – was in 2017. Dystopia is likely to make the song list for the upcoming tour, along with Sweating Bullets, She-Wolf, Peace Sells, Conquer or Die!, and several other fan favorites.
From Lamb of God, Resurrection Man, Walk With Me in Hell, 512, Memento Mori, and Ruin are just some of the live performances expected. As for opening acts, Trivium’s latest – In the Court of the Dragon – was released in October 2021. The band is likely to give it a live debut at the Metal Tour of the Year. In Flames will also perform some of their best songs.

Megadeth, Lamb of God, Trivium & In Flames tour tickets
2022 Megadeth + Lamb of God tour tickets and VIP packages went on sale in January. Tickets for the upcoming concerts are now available online. You can check metaltouroftheyear.com for up-to-date details and links to ticketing websites for each venue.
Metal Tour of the Year ticket rate varies from venue to venue as per supply and demand. Prices are likely to increase closer to the concert dates, as demand for reselling tickets also rises. You can expect to pay around $30 for the cheapest seats. Floor and GA Pit access cost around $70 – $140, depending on the venue. VIP packages are available for around $150 – $300.
With the growing popularity of NFTs, Metal Tour of the Year is also introducing collectible ticket stubs through the Live Nation’s Live Stubs initiative. Digital Live Stubs – the NFT – is automatically included with tickets for select Megadeth + Lamb of God concerts. Ticket holders can gift, share, resell, or trade these NFTs on Live Nation. But you cannot use these stubs to enter the live show – a digital ticket is required – for entry to the concert.

This year, Megadeth and Lamb of God are also performing in Laval, Toronto, and Quebec City. After the US concerts, the tour has three new dates – 17, 18, and 19 May – in Canada.
