The Grizzlies joined the NBA as an expansion team from Vancouver in the 1995-95 season. Then, they were members of the Western Conference Midwest Division. The franchise relocated to Memphis five years later and switched to the Southwest Division.  

Did you know? The Memphis Grizzlies is the only professional basketball team based in the state of Tennessee. Currently, they are also the only major league franchise from Memphis.  

As of 2022, Memphis Grizzlies have earned only one Division title. However, the Grizzlies have enjoyed much success in the last few years. They finished the 2021-22 NBA season with a 56-26 record (.683) and came first in the Southwest Division. The team later lost to the Golden State Warriors 2-4 in the Western Conference semi-finals. Last season also saw the Memphis franchise setting an NBA record for the largest victory margin – 73 points – beating Oklahoma City Thunder 152-79.

Who are the best Memphis Grizzlies players? 

Ja Morant is the Memphis Grizzlies’ star player at the moment. The #12 Point Guard came on board in 2019 and was named NBA Rookie of the Year in that season. Morant, along with Brandon Clarke, Dillon Brooks, and Jaren Jackson Jr., makes the team’s young core.

Who is the Memphis Grizzlies coach? 

NBA 2022-23 is head coach Taylor Jenkins’ 4th season with the Memphis Grizzlies. In the last couple of seasons, he successfully led the team to their first-ever playoffs and helped set significant franchise records. Previously, Jenkins has served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, the 2015 NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team, and the 2019 All-Star Team Giannis.  

When is the next game on the Memphis Grizzlies schedule? 

The Grizzlies tip off the 2022-23 NBA season with an away game against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 1, 2022. Their first preseason game at home is on October 3, when the Orlando Magic visits. Miami Heat is the next visiting team at FedExForum for a Memphis Grizzlies preseason game on October 7.  

After two more away games, the Grizzlies will play their regular season home opener on October 19 against the New York Knicks. The next home game at FedExForum is on October 24, when the Brooklyn Nets visit. The last regular season home game at the downtown Memphis arena is on April 4, 2023. The team will play their final 2022-23 regular season game at Paycom Center on April 9.

How much do Memphis Grizzlies tickets cost? 

Grizzlies home game ticket rates are comparatively lower than other popular arenas. However, the rates usually go up when popular teams like the Warriors or Lakers visit. In addition, parking and other add-ons cost extra. 

For the 2022-23 season, single-game ticket rates at FedExForum start at $6. Full season ticket prices range from $484 (Terrace V) – $38,764 (Scorer’s Table). 10-game packs are also available for $240 – $420, depending on seating type.

You can shop online here or visit the Memphis Grizzlies Den team store at FedExForum for team jerseys and other merch. The store in the arena’s Grand Lobby is open on all days; on Grizzlies game days, it will close at 4:30 pm. 

Where did the Grizzlies play before FedExForum? 

Before the FedExForum opened in 2004, the Memphis Grizzlies played home games at the Pyramid Arena. It is also known as Memphis Pyramid or the Great American Pyramid.  


Where is the Memphis Grizzlies stadium? 

FedExForum has been the Memphis Grizzlies’ home arena since 2004. The multi-purpose downtown venue is in the renowned Beale Street Entertainment District. The NCAA’s University of Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team also uses this arena.  

The City of Memphis owns the FedExForum, which Memphis Basketball, LLC, operates. The domed arena sits on a 14-acre site, spread over 805,850 ft². It can seat up to 18,119 for basketball games, including 1000 premium courtside seats. The facility also has 80 club boxes, 32 club suites, 27 courtside suites, and four party suites.

How to reach FedExForum for the next game 

191 Beale Street is the address for FedExForum in downtown Memphis. If you are driving to the next game, the Grizzlies arena is easily accessible from exits off Midtown I-240, I-40, and I-55. You can also arrive via east-west arteries like Poplar Avenue. Keep an eye on downtown traffic regulations to avoid delays, especially if there are other major events downtown scheduled for the same day.

The Dr. M.L. King Jr. (Linden) is the closest MATA trolley stop on the Main Street Line for those using mass transit. Shuttle and bus services are also available to the arena on game days.  

Pick-up/Drop off 

The designated pick-up/drop-off zone for limo/bus/motor coach is on 4th Street, between Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue and Beale Street. Waiting time in this area is restricted to five minutes; parking is not allowed, and unattended vehicles will be ticketed/towed.  

Note: Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue, Beale Street, and Third Avenue are unavailable for drop-offs. ADA drop-off is allowed outside the FedExForum Box Office – across the street from Westin Memphis Beale Street Hotel.  

Is gameday parking available at FedExForum? 

FedExForum has an attached parking facility – Gossett Motors Garage – with space for 1500 cars on five levels. However, for Memphis Grizzlies games, parking at this garage is provided on a seasonal basis. This season – 2022-23 – Grizzlies gameday parking at the FedExForum garage is limited. However, public parking is available for other events.

Free bus parking for Grizzlies group ticket holders is available on South 4th Street, outside the FedExForum. 

Where can I find ADA parking for Grizzlies’ home games? 

Limited ADA parking spots are available in FedExForum’s Gossett Motors Garage. In addition, you’ll find ADA/Accessible in the Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue marshaling area.  

The designated ADA drop-off is off Beale Street alley, on the arena’s north side. Turn eastbound off B.B. King Boulevard to reach this location.  

Where can I find gameday parking near FedExForum? 

On Memphis Grizzlies game days, you can park at downtown Memphis garages next to the FedExForum. Gameday parking rates in the neighborhood range from $20 – $40. The arena recommends: 

  • P2726 – 4th & Peabody Lot  
  • 4th and East Lot / 4th and West Lot  
  • P2725 – 250 Peabody Garage  
  • Blues McCall Garage  
  • Hernando Lot  
  • P2727 – Red Birds Lot  
  • 180 S. Main St Lot
