What to See & Do 

The New Museum galleries are open to the public – you can view contemporary art collections from across the globe during regular opening hours. The museum also has a resource center with books and access to its digital archives. The Sky Room in the seven-story building offers panoramic views of the neighborhood.

What are the New Museum hours? 

Public hours are from 11 am to 6 pm, Tuesday to Sunday.  

The Sky Room is open to general visitors during these hours unless reserved for a private event.  

The New Museum store is open from 12 pm when the museum is open to the public.  

How much do New Museum tickets cost? 

New Museum NYC tickets are timed; you can reserve them online on the museum website.  

The adult ticket rate is $18, $15 for Seniors and guests with disabilities. Students get a discount and pay only $12 with a valid ID. Entry is free for all under the age of 18. But ages 15 – 18 must present an ID for proof of age, and an adult must accompany children under 14.

  • Pay-What-You-Wish offer is available every Thursday between 7 pm and 9 pm.  
  • All tickets are non-refundable. 
  • 46-60-minute guided museum tours are available for up to 15 guests during public hours.

Where is the New Museum in NYC? 

The New Museum has been open at 235 Bowery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side since 2007. Its distinct boxy design in the Bowery District is impossible to miss – the 58,700 Sq. How to Get There 

The subway is the best way to get around New York City. 2nd Avenue Station and Bowery Station are closest to New Museum – about a block away. N, R, D, Z, J, 6, B, F, and M trains have services to stations in the neighborhood.  

M103 buses also stop near New Museum at Bowery/Prince Street and Bowery/E Houston Street. M15 and M21 stop at E Houston/Forsyth St, near the 2nd Avenue subway station.  

If driving to the New Museum of Contemporary Art, pre-book a garage space nearby. Several lots are available within walking distance of the museum, but drive-up rates can be quite high, and availability could be limited at the last minute.
