Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) operates non-stop flights to 228 destinations around the world. So it’s no wonder that O’Hare airport is ranked the sixth-busiest in the world. With over 84 million travelers passing through O’Hare in 2019, you could say the airport is as bustling as Chicago itself. If you’re planning to fly out of O’Hare but are confused about where to park, we’ve got you covered.

O’Hare Airport Parking: All You Need to Know

Offsite O’Hare parking options

Offsite parking garages and lots are, more often than not, the most affordable and safest option to park your vehicle while you catch your flight. It’s no different at O’Hare, with offsite garages charging as low as $10 for a day. While garages such as CTA Blue Line Cumberland offer covered parking for your vehicle, others like Pride Airport Parking and O’Hare Chicago Airport Parking offer valet services. Some offsite O’Hare parking garages even offer services such as car wash and car detailing. If you’re concerned about the distance between the offsite garages and the terminals, fret not, for these garages even offer free shuttle rides to and from the terminal at regular intervals.

You could even opt to park at one of the many hotels near the airport. Hotels such as Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriot, Four Points by Sheraton, and Hyatt Place offer parking spots for as low as $7 a day. Although some of these parking spots are uncovered, hotels offer free shuttle rides to the airport every few minutes. For an additional sum, you could even book a room and stay the night before you catch your flight the next day!

The most significant advantage of using an offsite parking garage or lot is that they can be booked via a parking website or parking app, such as way.com, on your phone. This lets you find the closest parking to the airport, compare rates, and review their services before booking a spot through contactless payment methods. Further, offsite airport garages are a lot safer as they have restricted access for the public and keep your vehicle safe with the aid of 24/7 camera surveillance and security personnel on-site.

Onsite parking options at O’Hare airport

Chicago O’Hare International Airport offers various options for those looking for short-term and long-term parking. Options include Economy Parking, Hourly Parking, Daily Parking, Valet Parking, and Reserved Parking. Let’s take a quick look at each option and how much they cost:

Economy Parking: Economy lots at O’Hare are your best bet if you intend to park for an extended period. Parking at the economy lot will set you back by $15 to $22 a day, with Lot G being the most affordable. While the economy lot is located some distance away from the terminals, there are free shuttle rides 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Economy Lot F

Time   Rate
0 to 1 hour  $3
1 to 2 hours  $6
2 to 3 hours   $10
3 to 4 hours  $14
4 to 24 hours  $22

Economy Lot G

Time  Rate
0 to 1 hour  $3
2 to 24 hours   $15

Hourly Parking: The main garage that offers hourly parking at O’Hare International Airport is located next to the domestic terminals. Those looking to park their car for less than three hours can opt to park at the hourly garage on Level 1. Please note that the main garage has a clearance level of 6’6”. If you drive a taller vehicle, it’s best to park at the outdoor lots.

Time  Rate
0 to 1 hour  $3
1 to 2 hours  $6
2 to 3 hours  $10
3 to 4 hours  $14
4 to 8 hours  $36
8 to 24 hours  $77

Daily Parking and Daily Lots: If you wish to park your vehicle at O’Hare for more than three hours, you could choose the daily parking garage on Levels 2-6 of the main garage or at the outdoor Lots B and C. However, it is not recommended to park here for extended overnight stays as the daily rates are higher than the economy lots.

Time  Rate
0 to 1 hour  $3
1 to 2 hours  $6
2 to 3 hours  $10
3 to 4 hours  $14
4 to 8 hours  $24
8 to 24 hours  $42

International Lot D: Situated adjacent to the International Terminal 5, International Lot D is intended for short-term parking. O’Hare parking authorities recommend using the economy lots for long-term parking if you want to park for longer durations as the rates are much cheaper. The parking rates at International Lot D are identical to the ones at the hourly parking garage (refer to hourly parking table)

Valet Parking: Crunched for time and need to make a run to the terminal? Well, that’s where valet parking comes in. O’Hare airport offers valet parking services at its main garage (Lot A) for Terminals 1,2, and 3. All you have to do is pull into the garage and follow the signs for ‘Valet Parking,’ and the rest is taken care of by attendants on-site.

Time  Rate
0 to 8 hours  $26
8 to 24 hours  $64

Reserved Parking: If you don’t mind spending a few dollars more, you could reserve a parking spot at O’Hare before leaving home. Reserving your parking spot in advance eliminates the need to drive around in circles, looking for an ideal spot to park. The reserved parking spots at O’Hare not only give you the most convenient access to the terminals, but they also ensure you get a spot even if the garage is full. Reservations can be made via the web or through an app, making it the most convenient option for customers. O’Hare’s reserved parking garage is located on Level 4. Reserving your parking spot for a day will set you back by $10 over the cost of regular parking and taxes at the hourly and daily garages.
