Portland Timbers in MSL: 2011 – Present
Timbers were announced as the 18th MLS team in March 2009 and is a member of the league’s Western Conference. Though they triumphed over rivals Seattle in the semis, the Timbers fell short of the cup. Renovations at the home stadium marred the team’s chances in 2019, and they finished 6th in the Conference.
After the pandemic, Portland Timbers started strong by winning the ‘MLS is Back Tournament’ in 2020 and qualifying for Champions League. Last season, the team continued to impress with a finals berth but lost out 4-2 in penalties to New York City FC.
