Ralph Lauren Car Collection : A Fashion Grandiose Garage

Ralph Lauren is known for his extravagant and classy fashion designs. With a net worth of around $8 billion, he has a car collection worth $300 million. The Polo Ralph Lauren team exhibited his car collection in Paris. And oh boy, it’s exquisite! Read to know more about the Ralph Lauren car collection.  

1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK  

Lauren calls his Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi.” It is a classic car made by Ferdinand Porsche. It had a supercharged straight-six engine that could make nearly 300 horsepower, which was massive for the 1920s. The car could go up to 120 miles per hour, which made it the fastest car of its time.

In 1999, it was a nominee for the “Car of the Century” award. Lauren owns one of the few that are still around.

1933 Bugatti Type 59 Grand Prix  

Prior to creating ultra-fast supercars, Bugatti was well-recognized for creating luxury automobiles. But, even in the 1930s, they were still highly known for their race cars. Type 59 was Bugatti’s final racing model for the decade.

The car had a modified Type 54 chassis and a 250 horsepower, 3.3-liter straight-eight engine from a Type 57. A few bullet-shaped holes were drilled into the chassis to lighten the frame and lower the engine to improve the vehicle’s center of gravity.  Out of eight in the market Ralph Lauren owns one.

1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic  

Before making the Veyron and Chiron, which are the fastest cars in the world, Bugatti made the most expensive and luxurious luxury cars. Lauren’s was initially purchased by a British Bugatti fan in 1938, and Ralph Lauren later acquired it.

He worked with Paul Russell to have a complete restoration done. They were able to undo previous restoration work and restore the automobile to its 1937 grandeur. As a result, the car won numerous prestigious accolades, including “Best of Show” at Pebble Beach in 1990 and again at the Villa d’Este in 2013.  

1955 Porsche 550 Spyder  

One of Porsche’s best-known vehicles is the 550 Spyder. It was unusual at the time for an automobile to be both a track car and a road car.

It was consistently in the top three results in its class and in winning positions. Ralph Lauren’s and James Dean’s “Little Bastard” had the same year and model.  

1955 Morgan Plus 4 Drophead Coupe  

The Morgan Plus 4 was one of the most potent and opulent vehicles produced by the early to mid-20th century’s well-known Morgan Motor Company.

Although it may not have been the quickest car of its era, Ralph Lauren prominently displays it in his collection due to its jet-black paint job and elegant appearance.  

1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe  

Every super-rich, car-obsessed celebrity seems to think they need at least one Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing to join one of the world’s most exclusive clubs. This car, with its characteristic gull-wing doors, was a resounding success in its era.

The 300SL held the record for the fastest top speed in the world and was the first production vehicle to use direct fuel injection (160 mph). 1,400 of the 3,258 models produced between 1954 and 1963 were coupes, including Lauren’s.  

1964 Ferrari 250 GTO  

Ralph Lauren’s 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO is the best of the bunch in his collection. In the $300-million menagerie, which has some of the rarest and most expensive cars in the world, the GTO is worth about 1/6th of the total value.

1965 Aston Martin DB5 Volante Drop Head Coupe  

In the 1964 movie Goldfinger, the Aston Martin DB5 was the first car that James Bond drove. However, Ralph Lauren’s car is way cooler than Bond’s.

The car has a six-cylinder engine that has a displacement of 4.0 liters and can make 282 horsepower. The most expensive DB5 ever sold at auction was a 1965 DB5 Drop Head Coupe, which sold for $2.7 million in 2017.  

1996 McLaren F1 LM  

The LM (“Le Mans”) variant of the F1 was the best of the best; McLaren was the supreme supercar designer of the 1990s. At a top speed of 240.1 mph in 1998, the McLaren F1 became the fastest production vehicle in history.

Ralph Lauren owns the rarest model, the LM, while other prominent owners of the F1 include Elon Musk, the Sultan of Brunei, Jay Leno, and Jay Leno.  

2008 Lamborghini Reventón Roadster   

Most people would think it’s silly to buy a car that is useless on public roads. But the Reventón, especially the Roadster, was worth every penny. Only 15 Roadsters were out and each one cost just over $2 million to start.

But its naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12, which had more horsepower than the coupe, could be pushed to its limits on the racetrack, where it belonged. And Lauren doesn’t just collect cars that can be driven on the road.  

2010 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport  

In 2005, the Bugatti Veyron held the title of the fastest production vehicle in the world. With 1,184 horsepower from its 8.0-liter W16 engine, the Veyron Super Sport was able to reach a top speed of 267.856 mph in 2010.

The Super Sport is not only the fastest production automobile in the world, but it is also one of the costliest, with a price tag of $2.4 million.  

2014 McLaren P1  

The McLaren P1 is a prime example of Ralph Lauren’s taste in automobiles, which goes far beyond vintage sports cars. Unlike its predecessor, the F1, the McLaren P1 was powered by a futuristic 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that was supplemented by a single electric motor.

All told, the P1 produced more than 900 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, which enabled the carbon-fiber-infused P1 to reach 60 mph from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds and finish the quarter-mile in under 10 seconds.  

2014 Porsche 918 Spyder  

Ralph Lauren owns not just one Porsche 918 Spyder but two. The 918 was an all-wheel-drive hybrid supercar with a 4.6-liter V8 engine and two electric motors that made a total of 887 horsepower.

Now, this one wasn’t for the faint of heart. It could go from 0-60 in as little as 2.5 seconds and had a top speed of more than 210 mph.
