When does the Rockefeller tree go up?

The 2023 Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony is on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

The 80 ft tree from Vestal, New York was revealed on November 2 on social media. It’s 43 ft wide, 12 tons heavy, and between 80 and 85 years old – perfect for marking the 91st year of the ceremony. The tree arrives on November 11, so there’s enough time to spruce it up with 50,000 LED lights (about 5 miles of wire) and the iconic Swarovski Star topper before the mayor hits the switch.

Can I watch the Rockefeller tree lighting?

The Rockefeller Christmas tree goes up between Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue and West 49th Street. It’s a prime NYC neighborhood, less than a mile from Times Square – the crowds won’t let up that easily, and if you hope to get a closer look, reach early.

Arrive with a few hours to spare before the event begins. Public access is limited and works on a first-come, first-serve basis. Check for Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony updates and more details here.

Just thinking about the holidays in New York can put you in a good mood! Now, don’t spoil it by worrying about parking troubles. Instead, book your spots anywhere in NYC for cheap rates on Way.com. It’s the Christmas miracle you’ve been waiting for!

After the lighting ceremony on November 29, you can see the lit Rockefeller Tree daily, from 5 am to 12 am. It will remain lit for 24 hours on Christmas Day and from 5 am to 9 pm on New Year’s Eve. The lights are removed and taken down at 10 pm on January 13, 2024.
