There might not be anything worse than a squeaky car window. Even the best-treated window can occasionally become sticky and squeaky. Even though these windows still work, they are often loud enough that you can hear them from across the parking lot.

You can do little to fix these squeaky car windows that are making noise. But, with the right knowledge, you can easily do what other people have yet to be able to do.

These quick fixes don’t cost a lot of money.

You can do little to fix these squeaky car windows that are making noise. But, with the right knowledge, you can easily do what other people have yet to be able to do.

Every once in a while, the motors in your window need a little oil to keep everything moving as it should. This could be one of those times. Get a safe lubricant spray and spray a little bit in the area where the noises come from.

Buy a Window-Safe Lubricant

If the window is making a noise, you need to grease it. There are quite a few lubricants that will do the job, but many of the ones that work are inexpensive. So the first thing you should do is buy one of these lubricants.

We suggest getting a silicone grease spray, which can be used on most windows without harm. One can sometimes be enough to fix a few windows. If you need to fix a whole set of windows, you won’t be able to do it with just one can.

It would be best if you stayed away from oily lubricants because they can trap dirt and dust, making the problem worse over time than it was. Plus, these lubricants tend to dry out on the rubber surfaces that the window touches, which can make the window squeak again pretty quickly.

Open your Window Completely

Then, spray the lubricant on both sides of the window seal. You can’t use too much lubricant, so spray a lot of it on. A little bit of the spray will get into the seal. This works.

Even though you don’t want to use too much lubricant, a little bit won’t help. Instead, you do have to use quite a bit. Ensure the lubricant is spread on all sides of the rubber seal. If it starts dripping, don’t worry because the lubricant you bought should be safe for cars.

Remove excess lubricant

If you sprayed enough, there might be extra lubricant around the window if you used a lot. So the next step is to use a towel to clean up the extra.

It can be hard to clean up because it is oil. But you can take it only some of the way out of the car. So instead, wipe up as much of the extra oil as possible.

Spray silicone spray or dry Teflon on the window tracks. Silicone stays slippery even when it’s cold, which makes it easier for windows to move and lessens the wear and tear on your window motors. Next, lower the window glass and shoot dry Teflon spray down each door’s front, back, and top window channels.

Put the window up

Now that you’ve cleaned the window and let it sit for a few minutes, it’s time to roll it up and see how it works. At least twice, it would be best to move the window up and down to ensure that the oil covers the whole surface. After a while, the squeaky sound should get better.

Add more oil

If things aren’t getting better, you should add more oil. Then, spray the lubricant on the window again like you did the first time, wipe off the extra, and then roll the window up and down again. At some point, you’ll have enough oil to stop the squeaking for good.

If this method doesn’t stop the squeaking after a few tries, your car has another problem. The inner parts of a window can sometimes break, which can cause it to make a squeaking sound. But to do this, you must take the car to a mechanic because it can be hard to figure out the problem and fix it.

Clean thoroughly

When the squeaking stops, you’ll need to clean the car thoroughly. We know you already cleaned up the extra lubricant, but moving the window up and down can spread more of it.

Too much lubricant can make the paint on your car streak mess up. Because of this, you should clean it well with a clean towel. Once you’ve fixed your window, you should carefully clean the rubber seal around it.¬†

This extra lubricant is messy and can make dirt stick to it.

Next, clean the windows with a traditional glass cleaner to eliminate smudges and other dirt that the windows probably picked up during the process.

What should you keep in mind while fixing a window that squeaks?

Even though a squeaky window might not bother you at first, it can get on your nerves.

Spray silicone grease on a squeaky car window to fix it quickly. It’s easy to find and usually costs $5 at any auto parts or hardware store. Then, spray the lubricant inside the seal on both sides of the window frame while the car window is open.

Start at the top left corner of the window and move down. Do the same thing on the passenger window on the right side. Make sure the lubricant is spread evenly down the frame and seal.

Clean up the extra around the window seal with a rag. Wait a few minutes, and then try rolling the window up and down a few times. The sound should be getting better.

You can add more lubricant to the window seal if it still needs to be completely gone. Then, roll the window repeatedly to spread the grease evenly. You shouldn’t hear a thing at this point.

Once you fix the squeak, consider looking at your car insurance coverage.

When you fix or work on your car, you should review your policy and get quotes from more than one company to ensure you’re getting the best price.

This job should be easy to do at home and doesn’t need a professional. In addition, lubricant only costs a few dollars for a bottle, so there’s little reason not to buy it.
