When you think of the most popular airports in California, the Los Angeles Airport will probably be the first to come to mind. That shouldn’t come as a surprise – it’s one of the busiest airports in the country and provides vital connectivity to the region. Angelenos are known to prefer driving back and forth from LAX Airport because of the convenience it offers. But for the uninitiated, parking at LAX can be a confusing ordeal.

What are the rates for parking at LAX? 

The main airport parking lot is the Central Terminal Area (CTA) parking lot. The first 15 minutes are free. After that, the first hour is charged $5. Every additional half-hour will be charged $4 from then onwards until the daily maximum of $40 is reached. 

Is there free parking at LAX? 

Yes, there is free parking at LAX Airport at the Cell Phone Waiting Lot. It is located on 96th St, just east of Sepulveda Blvd. This is the perfect place to park and wait for free while your passenger clears customs and baggage claim. It offers easy access to the terminal, so all you need to do is drive up when it’s time to pick them up. There is a maximum time limit of two hours, which is more than enough. Commercial vehicles are not allowed here, and the vehicles must be attended at all times. 

Is there electric vehicle parking at LAX?

Yes, there are EV charging stations at the first levels of Parking Structures 1, 6, and 7. While Parking Structure 1 has 22 EV charging spaces, Structure 6 has 20 spaces and Structure 7 has 18 spaces. The spots can be accessed on a first-come, first-serve basis. While normal parking rates apply, the electricity is provided free of charge.

Are there ADA parking spaces at LAX?

Yes, LAX has dedicated ADA parking spaces that are reserved for disabled passengers. The vehicle has to display the relevant disabled identification tags. However, the standard rates for parking will apply, and there are no discounted rates for disabled parking. 

Is there motorcycle and bike parking at LAX? 

Yes, there is free motorcycle and bike parking for up to 30 days at the Central Terminal Area parking lots. They need not take a ticket when they enter the lots. Parking is free as long as they park only in designated areas and do not encroach into regular vehicle parking areas or ADA-designated areas. Bikes violating this rule will be impounded at the owner’s expense.  

Off-site LAX Airport parking 

There are several airport hotels in the vicinity of LAX Airport that provide off-site parking lots for slashed rates. Using Way.com or the Way app, you can access these lots and book cheap LAX Airport parking in minutes! This is particularly useful if you live far from the airport and you have to catch a ‘red-eye’ flight!   • LAX Airport is 18 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The journey will probably take you around 45 minutes to complete at an average speed and without any delays. However, to be on the safe side, leave for the airport at least 90 minutes before you have to check-in.
