The Morgan Library & Museum is an independent research library and Museum located in the Murray Hill area in Manhattan. What began as the personal library of the pioneer financier John Pierpont Morgan (J.P. Morgan) now serves the public with its immense collection of literary works, which includes manuscripts, early printed books, drawings, prints, and historical manuscripts.  

The library, founded in 1906 and earlier called Pierpont Morgan Library, was later opened to the public in 1924. The Morgan Library & Museum not only acts as an area of interest for museophiles but also for architecture enthusiasts. It has a collection of beautiful buildings, with the main building designed by renowned architect Charles McKim taking center stage. 

Now this institution has grown beyond a library and a museum, hosting musical performances and concerts. But before planning a visit, make sure that you’ve found a convenient parking spot near The Morgan Library & Museum to ensure a hassle-free visit.  

How to get there? 

The Morgan Library & Museum is at 225 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016. You can get there in less than 15 minutes if you take the route vis FDR Dr from the New York City Center. Also, don’t forget to enjoy the majestic view of the Empire State Building while taking this route. Getting here by car is not much of a hassle, thanks to the convenient parking facilities in this area.

Is The Morgan Library & Museum open every day? 

The library is open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Timings for the Museum are 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, except for Fridays. It closes only at 7 PM on Fridays. However, note that the Museum closes a little early, at 4:00 PM on Christmas Eve. 

What are the ticket rates here? 

A visit to The Morgan Library & Museum costs $22 for adults. However, seniors (above 65) and students have a discounted rate of $14 and $13, respectively. Furthermore, there’s free entry for children under 12.  

The library also offers a discounted rate for visitors with disabilities priced at $13, with a free pass to caregivers accompanying them.  

Dining options 

Morgan Café, open on all working days of the Museum, offers its visitors a wide range of snacks and drinks. It is open from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday and until 06:30 PM on Fridays.  

The Morgan Library & Museum Parking options

Several convenient parking garages and lots within walking distance of The Morgan Library & Museum are much cheaper and safer than parking on the street. In addition, it is also close to the AKC Museum of the Dog (0.2 miles), Cipriani 42nd St (0.3 miles), and Tudor City Greens (0.4 miles). 

560 3rd Ave Parking provides convenient features such as ADA/Aisle access, contactless parking, and a paved parking facility at rates as low as $12 per hour.
