About Logan Airport  

Logan International Airport sprawls an area of 2,384 acres. The airport got its name from General Edward Lawrence Logan, a 20th-century war hero from Boston. The airport is the northeastern hub for Cape Air and also serves as the secondary Transatlantic hub for Delta Air Lines. Logan Airport features four terminals – A, B, C, and E and has 102 gates. With annual passenger traffic of around 12 million in 2020, Logan was the 19th busiest airport in the country. In 2019, the airport had the highest annual passenger traffic with around 42 million passengers.

How to reach Logan Airport 

The airport is around four miles away from Downtown Boston. So, commuting to the airport won’t give you a headache unless there’s heavy road congestion or you’re traveling during peak hours/seasons. Driving to the airport is always a good choice since it is close to the city center. However, opt for public transportation or taxi/rideshare services if you don’t want to drive and waste time looking for parking.  

Using public transportation service 

Using public transportation service will be ideal f you’re looking for an affordable mode of transportation to Logan Airport. Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has rapid service buses, a subway, and a water shuttle. This service is locally known as ‘the T.’ 

Silver Line Rapid Transit Buses: The Silver Line operates from 5.30 a.m.-12.30 a.m. throughout the week. While traveling to Logan Airport, you need to take the MBTA Red Line or Commuter Rail to reach South Station. Then make a transfer to the Silver Line Route SL1. The Silver Line SL1 has stops at all the terminals.  

The Blue Line (Subway): This service operates from 6 a.m.-12.30 a.m. throughout the week. While traveling to the airport, take the MBTA Blue Line to the Airport Station and then get into free Massport Shuttle Buses to reach the airline Terminals. 

Using MBTA Ferries and Logan Express 

The MBTA has a direct ferry service between Logan Airport and Hingham/Hull and Long Wharf on the Boston waterfront. While traveling from the airport, you need to take the free Massport shuttle to reach the airport Ferry Dock. 

The Logan Express buses offer direct service to all the airport terminals. You can board the bus from Braintree, Framingham, Woburn, Back Bay, and Peabody and reach the airport terminals at the lower level. The service offers a free ride to children aged 17 and under while they’re traveling with family. You can park at Massport’s suburban Logan Express lots for $7 per day. The lots have options for accessible parking.  

Taxi/Rideshare services 

It nearly takes between 10-20 minutes to reach Logan Airport from Downtown Boston. There are metered taxis that offer service to the airport. Typically, it costs you between $20-45 to reach the airport from Downtown. The taxi rate can vary depending on the day and hour you use the service. 

Using an Uber will cost you anything between $14-52, depending on the ride type you choose. Lyft offers service to the airport at costs ranging between $18-40 depending on the ride type.  

Driving to Logan Airport 

It will be a better option if you’re traveling with family or have a lot of luggage. However, be always aware that the road to the airport can get congested at any time. Typically, it takes around 10-20 minutes to reach the airport while driving from Downtown. The road to the airport gets crowded during peak seasons or holidays. So, it is always safe to book a Logan Airport parking spot when you book the flight ticket. About Logan Airport parking 

Onsite short-term and long-term parking at Logan Airport is available through two main parking areas – Terminal and Economy Parking. The Central Parking Garage offers convenient access to all the airport terminals through pedestrian bridges located on Level 4. The Economy Parking lot features around 2,700 parking spots. The lot also offers 24 hours shuttle services to and from the terminals.

Central Parking Garage 

This parking garage is near the terminals featuring Terminal B and E parking lots. Terminal E lot is temporarily closed. Using short-term Logan Airport parking at this parking garage costs you $8 for the first 60 minutes. The rate surges to $21 for 1-2 hours, $26 for 2-3 hours, $3- for 3-4 hours, and $34 for 4-7 hours of parking.   

Long-term parking at this garage costs you $38 when you park for 7-24 hours. The garage lets you park for more than a day. The long-term parking rate at Logan Airport surges to $57 if you park for 24-30 hours. After that, the rates surge to $76, which is the long-term parking rate if you park for two days. Parking will cost you $38 for each additional day and $19 for a day and six hours.  

Economy Parking 

Park in this car if you want to have affordable long-term parking at Logan Airport. The lot is temporarily closed. When open, parking for the first 60 minutes will cost you $8. The rate surges to $20 for 1-2 hours, $22 for 2-3 hours, and $25 for 3-4 hours of parking. The long-term parking rate at this lot costs you a maximum of $29 per day. The parking rate increases by $29 for each additional day of parking.  

How to get free Logan Airport parking 

Use the Cell Phone located at Hotel Drive and Service Road intersection to get free parking while at the airport. The lot is just five minutes away from the terminals. You can park in this lot for a maximum of 30 minutes. No commercial vehicle is permitted to park here. Also, you can’t leave your vehicle unattended.
