Starting your beach day off with a parking spot hunt? That’s a real bummer! Let’s make sure this never happens again. Check out these Will Rogers State Beach parking spots that’ll save you a lot of time and trouble.
Beach, please! If sunshine and the sea always put you in a good mood, Will Rogers State Beach in the Pacific Palisades must be on your radar. The sandy stretch is the perfect break away from Malibu and Santa Monica crowds. It’s just off the Pacific Coast Highway, near the Temescal Canyon Road intersection – and only a quick car ride from LA city. You’ll have no trouble driving to this beach. Head down Sunset Boulevard to the coast, and you’ll reach the Sunset Beach community on the beach’s northwestern end. You’ll even find convenient parking right here near the Gladstones restaurant or further down south towards Santa Monica Beach.
Will Rogers State Beach might not be as famous as its neighbors, but it gets its fair share of sunbathers, swimmers, and surfers. The playground, picnic tables, bike path, and walkway make it a great place to relax too – bringing in families and groups. Volleyball courts, sailing, and windsurfing are also popular activities at this beachfront. Even with multiple public parking lots and plenty of street parking nearby, you cannot expect to find parking near Will Rogers State Beach easily – especially during summer. So, it’s essential to be aware of all your options:
Street parking near the beach
It isn’t impossible – just unreliable if you are looking to avoid that last-minute parking hunt. A limited number of Will Rogers State Beach free parking spots are located near the Gladstones restaurant at the northern end of the beach, where Sunset Boulevard meets Pacific Coast Highway. No-parking on this stretch is from 10 pm to 5 am. If you hope to park here, make sure to get an early start in the day. There are free parking spots on streets around the Palisades Recreational Park. But it would involve longer walking to the beach.
Ocean Avenue and the streets perpendicular to it is the better option. But this is at the south end, near Santa Monica, and the demand for these can be pretty extreme. Besides, street parking always comes with safety risks – those that involve parking tickets too. Make sure to check parking signs before leaving your car (even when you are familiar with the street). Always move your car at least 5 minutes before time runs out.
