The Sultan of Brunei: a man of mystery, a collector of… well, let’s say his car collection isn’t exactly your average Uber fleet. Let’s take a tour. This is the world’s biggest car collection you will see. This is a chrome-plated graveyard of extravagance. Here, unused Ferraris outnumber happy citizens. Basically, the only thing more impressive than the horsepower is the sheer audacity of it all.

Hassanal Bolkiah is a man of immense wealth, shrouded in a mystery. The Sultan of Brunei might not be the first name that pops into your head when discussing flamboyant car collectors.

From Humble Beginnings (of Oil Riches)

Brunei, a tiny nation nestled on the coast of Borneo, might not be a household name. Contrarily, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah most certainly is. Subsequently, among car enthusiasts (and, perhaps, envious billionaires). With an estimated net worth exceeding $80 billion, thanks to a healthy dose of black gold, the Sultan has developed a taste for the finer things in life. And by “finer things,” we mean enough cars to fill a small city.

A Garage Fit for a Sultan

The Sultan of Brunei’s car collection is a testament to his passion for luxury and exclusivity. Among his prized possessions are several unique and valuable cars.

How Sultan Included the BMW Nazca M12 in the World’s Biggest Car Collection

The BMW Nazca M12 in the Sultan of Brunei’s collection has an intriguing history. Originally unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1991, this super-sports car was a creation of Fabrizio Giugiaro, son of the renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Nazca M12 features a 300 hp five-liter 12-cylinder engine from BMW’s production cars like the 750i and 850i, mounted midships in a longitudinal configuration. Despite its lightweight construction at just 1.1 tonnes, the car boasted impressive performance figures, with a top speed of 180 mph and acceleration from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds.
