Norfolk International Airport is located just seven miles northeast of the city center. ORF is Norfolk Airport's allotted IATA Code. The ORF Airport is located in Norfolk, Virginia. The ORF Airport was originally known as the Norfolk Municipal Airport; it was renamed Norfolk Regional Airport and again renamed in 1976 as Norfolk International Airport. The Norfolk Airport Authority, a department of the city government, owns and manages the airport. Along with Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport in Newport News, this airport serves the Hampton Roads metropolitan area in southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina.

Norfolk International Terminal has two passenger concourses. The two passenger terminals of Norfolk International Airport are designated as Concourse A (gates A1-A11) and Concourse B. (gates B16-B30). Concourse B houses Allegiant Air, Delta, Frontier, and United, whereas Concourse A is home to American Airlines and Southwest. Gate A1 is for foreign passengers, but there are no planned international flights at this time. For more specifics, American Airlines uses gates A2, A4, A6, and A11, Delta uses gates B21 through B25, Southwest uses gates A3 and A5, United uses gates B27 through B30, while Allegiant and Frontier use gates B16 through B18 and B20. Gates B22 and B26 on Concourse B are now closed.
The Norfolk International Airport terminal complex is split into the Main Terminal and the New Arrivals Terminal. The Baggage claims are located in the Arrivals Terminal. There are five baggage claims and an oversized baggage claim.
The Airport Information Center is in the main lobby near the pedestrian bridge. The Information center provides visitors with local information. Visitor guides and maps are available at the Airport Information Center and in the Arrivals Terminal near the car rental counters.
Norfolk Airport is a relatively easy airport to navigate as it has a single terminal complex. All the major points are in the same terminal complex, so walking is the best option to travel across the concourses.
Garage A Level 1 (hourly parking), Garage C Level 2 (daily parking) and Garage D Ground Level (daily parking), and Level 3 (daily parking) have complimentary EV charging stations.
ORF Airport has airport-owned parking lots that include accessible parking for passengers with disabilities. In addition, wheelchair-accessible shuttle buses service the long-term parking lot. Both the Hourly and Daily parking spaces on either side of the airport terminal have ramps for wheelchair access. Garages A, B, and D, the Daily Parking Lot East and Hourly Parking Garage A, and the Departures North and South lots all have parking spaces accessible to those with physical disabilities. Conveniently accessible parking spaces are reserved in all garages and parking lots. To accommodate our disabled customers, we offer free parking for the first four (4) hours in our Hourly parking lots. The first four hours are discounted; after that, the standard hourly fee will apply.
TSA Cares has a helpline that provides travelers with medical conditions, disabilities, and other special needs additional assistance during the security screening process. Call 72 hours before traveling at 855- 787-2227. The TSA Cares Program will provide Passenger Support Specialist assistance at the airport upon your request. Travelers should reach the airport at least two hours before their flight leaves to allow for time in line at TSA security and any other delays that may occur.
Passengers should arrive at the airport with their carry-on bags carefully packed and their identification documents. Please do not leave your bags unattended in the terminal. Keep your bags with you.
There is no direct public transport offered to Norfolk Airport. You can get to Norfolk Airport by bus, shuttle taxi, rideshare, or driving down.
The Norfolk International Airport does not offer bus or shuttle service to or from the terminals. At the corner of Military Highway (Route 165) and Norview Avenue is the closest bus stop (HRT Route 15), located a distance of 1.5 miles (Route 247).
Limousines and Courtesy vehicles have a Pickup area outside the Arrivals Terminal between Crosswalks 1 and 2. There are some hotels that provide airport shuttle service. The Candlewood Suites Norfolk Airport, the Comfort Inn & Suites Virginia Beach Norfolk Airport, the Delta Hotels by Marriott Norfolk Airport, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Norfolk Airport, the Econo Lodge Airport, the Hampton Inn & Suites Norfolk-Airport, the Holiday Inn Virginia Beach - Norfolk, and the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Norfolk Airport all offer airport shuttle service.
From Norfolk International Airport, the Norfolk Airport Express goes south to Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk in southern Hampton Roads and north to Williamsburg, Hampton, Newport News, Jamestown, and Yorktown (across the Chesapeake Bay). Taxis are available outside of the baggage claim area on a 24-hour basis. There is no need to call ahead to reserve a cab because they are all metered. You can take up to five persons in a cab, as long as it is the same destination that they are traveling down to. There are taxi cab services like City Wide Cabs, Coastal Ride, Duke Cab Co., East Side Cabs, Eden Cab Co., Norfolk Checker, Oceanside Executive, Southside Cab Co., Waterside Taxi Company Inc., etc.
Rideshare pickup is located outside Door 5 in the Arrivals Terminal. Uber and Lyft are the two available services. Turo offers Peer-to-peer Car sharing. The Arrivals Terminal is home to a number of taxi stands and rideshare app offices (Lyft, Uber). Arriving passengers are not required to make a reservation.
Arrivals Terminal Level 1 is home to the airport's rental car counters. Our daily hours are from 4:30 AM EST till the arrival of the last flight at night. Garage A is on the ground floor, which is also where you can pick up your rental car. You can return your rental car on the second floor, in Garage A. American, Avis, Budget, Dollar, and Enterprise are some of the rental car service providers.
