Sky Harbor Terminal 3 construction began in 1976 and was opened to the public in 1979. Terminal 3 serves both domestic and international flights and has 3 levels. After multiple renovations and extensive modernization projects, Terminal 3 now offers an improved passenger experience with spacious gate areas, expanded dining, upgraded shopping, and modern amenities. Officially named the John S. McCain III Terminal, Terminal 3 is located on the west side of Sky Harbor Airport and follows a straightforward layout, helping travelers navigate the airport with minimal confusion.

The Terminal 3 map above is based on the official Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport terminal map published at skyharbor.com.
The terminal currently has 27 passenger gates across its two concourses, with a new north concourse under construction that will expand passenger capacity and improve operational efficiency.
A second north concourse project is underway and expected to open around 2027. It will add six additional gates along with updated passenger amenities across approximately 173,000 square feet of space. If you're flying out of Terminal 3 in the next couple of years, expect ongoing construction activity in and around the terminal. Plan ahead and don't be surprised if signage or gate locations shift as the project progresses.
Following the Terminal 3 modernization, the facilities available at each level are as follows:
Level 1 – Curbside entry, flight information displays, and ground transportation
Level 3 – Arrivals and baggage claim
Level 4 – Departures: airline ticket counters, the single security checkpoint, restaurants, shops, the PHX Sky Train station, and access to the gates numbered E1 to E10 and F1 to F15
If you prefer to park onsite at any of the lots close to Terminal 3, you can park at Terminal 3 Garage, West Economy Garage, West Economy Park & Walk, or 24th St Station. Onsite Terminal 3 parking rates range from $16–$33/day depending on the lot. West Economy Park & Walk lot is a seasonal lot that offers parking at $10/day. Travelers can find cheaper and safer PHX parking options at the nearby offsite Phoenix Airport Parking lots.
Terminal 3 offers a mix of local Arizona restaurants and nationally recognized brands, giving travelers plenty of choices. Most restaurants are located past the security checkpoint on Level 4, allowing passengers to enjoy a meal or coffee without leaving the gate area.

Terminal 3 offers convenient access to several ground transportation options, making it easy to continue your journey after arriving at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Travelers can use the free PHX Sky Train to connect with the Rental Car Center, 24th Street Station, Terminal 4, East Economy Parking, and the Valley Metro Rail system. The automated train operates frequently throughout the day and is the quickest way to reach these airport facilities.
For transportation beyond the airport, passengers will find designated pickup areas for rideshare services, taxis, courtesy shuttles, and rental cars. Public transit is also easily accessible, offering a convenient option for travelers heading to downtown Phoenix, Tempe, and other nearby destinations.
Before leaving the terminal, follow the overhead signs or airport wayfinding displays to locate the correct pickup area for your chosen mode of transportation.
Picking up or dropping off passengers at Phoenix Sky Harbor Terminal 3 is straightforward when you know where to go. The terminal has dedicated curbside areas for both departures and arrivals, with clear signage directing drivers to the appropriate locations. Terminal 3's designated rideshare and passenger curb runs along the entire south outer curb (excluding the far east end), plus the north outer curb at the far east end.
After landing, follow the signs for “Ground Transportation” and “Baggage Claim.” Once you have your bags, head to the marked curb outside for rideshare, taxi, or shuttle pickup, or take the Sky Train if you're continuing to the Sky Harbor Airport parking or the Rental Car Center.
If you're dropping off a departing passenger, the same curb zones apply for a quick drop-off. If you're arriving early to pick up a passenger, remember that curbside waiting is meant to be brief. For longer waits, the airport's free Cell Phone Waiting Lots are the better option.
