How do I replace my lost NJ driver’s license? 

To replace your lost NJ driver’s license, you should seek the help of the nearest MVC. You could do this in person or online. Here’s what you need to do when you have lost your New Jersey driver’s license: 

Step 1: First things first, if your NJ driver’s license is stolen/lost, you should report it to the MVC as soon as possible.  

Step 2: Apply for a license replacement online or in person. 

Step 3: If you’re applying for a replacement online, log in to the website, and enter your ZIP code, driving license number, date of birth, and last name. You’ll also require your social security number and email address. 

If you’re applying in person, keep these documents handy – primary ID like your birth certificate, a secondary ID like your bank statement, proof of address, and proof of social security number. 

Step 4: Once you’ve submitted the required documents and necessary information, it’s time to make the payment. You can either pay the replacement fee of $11 using a debit/credit card (online) or pay in cash (in person). 

You will get a temporary license immediately or on the same day. The temporary license is valid for up to 30 days. Within those 30 days, you will receive your permanent replacement license by mail.
