Is the P0183 error code serious? 

The P0183 error code isn't serious. It doesn't have immediate effects on your car's engine; However, it is still an error code that should be addressed eventually. Understanding the causes, symptoms, and meaning behind the code is important to fix it.

Meaning: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0183 stands for “Fuel Temperature Sensor ‘A’ Circuit High.” This means that the signal from the fuel temperature sensor received by the PCM is too high. 

Symptoms: Once an OBD scanner detects this DTC, look for symptoms in your car like, difficulty in starting, engine hesitation, and stalling.  

Causes: Many reasons can cause this DTC, the most common being a faulty fuel temperature sensor. Faults in wiring, connections, or the PCM can also cause this DTC. Other reasons include a contaminated connector or even a poor electrical connection. 

Fixes: Once you narrow down the specific cause of the P0183 error code, you can go ahead and fix it. Common fixes for this DTC include repairing the fuel temperature sensors, repairing or replacing the sensors’ connectors, wiring, and changing out oxidized or burned wires.
