PHX Airport Map

About Phoenix Airport

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), "America's Friendliest Airport" and the "Best airport in the US to get stuck in during layovers," is Arizona's largest and busiest airport. If you're flying to or from PHX, this Phoenix Airport map and our handy guide will help you get around the airport easily.

Sky Harbor Airport has only two terminals – Terminal 3 and 4. The airport has 7 onsite parking garages and 3 cellphone waiting lots. There are also several offsite PHX lots near the airport for those looking for cheaper parking.

Terminal 3 was modernized for $590 million by the airport in 2020. The airport now has a more efficient security checkpoint, more ticket counters, more baggage claim carousels, new restaurant and shop options, more gates, and an extended drop-off and pickup curb.

In June 2022, a new $310 million concourse in Terminal 4 opened, with eight new gates for Southwest Airlines. Among other enhancements, this brings 130,000 square feet of additional space, new retail and dining options, and a new link bridge to the north Terminal 4 concourses. In addition, the new structure has windows with electrochromic glazing that automatically adjust tint levels depending on the sun's position.

Phoenix Airport Terminals

You might look at the Phoenix Airport terminal map and wonder if Phoenix Airport has no Terminal 1 or 2. Terminal 1 was demolished in 1991 after Terminal 4 opened. Terminal 2 has been 'retired' according to airport authorities. However, they haven't renumbered the other terminals because passengers were already familiar with the existing numbers.

The map of Phoenix Airport shows that Terminal 3 is located on the airport's west side, along with parking and a cell phone waiting area.

Terminal 4 is on the airport's east side, and it also has parking facilities, two more cell phone waiting lots, and the Valley Metro Rail Station, which is northeast of the airport.

The free PHX Sky Train connects Terminals 3 and 4.

The airport is located between the Papago Freeway and the Hohokam Expressway, with a road system connecting the terminals and parking areas in between.

How to get between the terminals at Phoenix Airport

As there are only two terminals at Phoenix Sky Harbor, navigation is quite simple, especially if you consult the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport map provided above. The terminals are divided, though, so you can't walk between them. However, travelers can utilize the free PHX Sky Train to transfer. The Sky Train runs outside the secure area 24/7 at frequent intervals.

Domestic Terminal 4 connecting passengers can remain in the secure area and walk to the next gate. However, they must have the necessary boarding card. Also, any luggage they have should be checked through to their final destination

International flight passengers will have to collect their bags and go through customs and immigration before leaving the airport.

Terminal 4's moving walkways connect even the most distant gates (A30 to D9), located more than a mile apart.
