Question

Can you jump-start a car with a battery?

You can jump-start a car with a dead battery using a spare battery, another car, or a battery pack.

Here is how you go about it.

  • With a Spare Battery: Connect the red clamp to both batteries’ positive (+) terminals and the black clamp to both negatives (-), start the car, and let it run for 30 minutes.

  • With Another Car: Attach the red clamp to both positive terminals and the black clamp to the working battery’s negative terminal, then to an unpainted metal surface on the dead car. Start the working car, then the dead car, and let it run for 15 minutes.
  • With a Battery Pack: Follow the pack’s instructions to connect it to the battery, start the car, and recharge.
