Question

How to turn off seat belt alarm

A car seat belt alarm works by using sensors. The sensors detect whether someone has occupied the seat and whether the seat belt is buckled.

If someone has occupied the seat and hasn’t buckled the belt, there will be a visual warning on the car’s dashboard, and the alarm chime will start.

We always encourage you to drive and wear a seatbelt for your safety, no matter the situation. Here are some ways by which you can turn off the seatbelt alarm.

  • Using the seatbelt by unfastening it and reinserting it. Repeat this a few times.
  • Disconnecting your car’s battery by shutting off the car’s system and then restarting it, thereby resetting all electronic parts in your car.
  • Fuse adjustment will reset the seatbelt system, however; always carry it out in a service center.
  • Using software scanners can reconfigure your car’s modules which finds and reset engine error codes, test diagnostic processes, and more.
  • Using special tools like alarm stoppers or seat belt silencers.

The purpose of your car’s seatbelt is to keep you safe. So, ensure that you turn the chime back on when you need it again. The following are some mistakes that you must avoid.

  • Never alter the seatbelts. Doing so will nullify your car’s warranty and lead to a faulty airbag system.
  • Don’t cut any wires or connectors if you’re not sure about their purpose.
  • Never let the wrench touch both battery terminals at the same time. Doing so will send electricity through the wrench.
