Question

Why is the maintenance required light in my car turned on?

The maintenance-required light is normally a warning to let you know that something is wrong. It typically activates at 5000-mile intervals to remind you about essential services, such as oil changes.

If something is wrong with your car, it can also turn on at any time. No, it is not safe to drive with the light on; you must also perform regular maintenance services. You can get stranded on the road or even cause accidents if you don’t take regular services.
How can you reset the maintenance light after fixing the issue?
  • Turn on the ignition switch.
  • Make the Odometer/Trip Display to ODO mode.
  • Turn off the ignition switch.
  • Press and hold the trip meter ‘Reset’ button while turning on the ignition switch.
  • Then, the light will illuminate solidly for three seconds. Then it will blink for two seconds and finally illuminate steadily for a second.
  • You should release the trip meter ‘Reset’ button.
  • Turn off the ignition.
  • Turn on the ignition and check that the maintenance required light is off. If the light continues to blink (step 5), turn off the ignition and begin from the first step again.
