How much is a parking ticket in NYC? 

The parking tickets in NYC can range from $35 to $115. Factors like location and the violation itself will influence the ticket cost. 

There are some parking tickets that can go as high as $180, depending on the severity of the violation. Heavy vehicles like buses have higher fines, averaging around $115. One of the highest fines is $650, which is issued for vehicles exceeding gross vehicle and axle weight limits on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE).  

When it comes to changes based on location, violations in areas below Manhattan 96th St. have different ticket costs compared to all other areas. For example, OT parking at missing/broken meters can get you a $65 ticket in areas at and below 96th St. in Manhattan. The same violation in any other area will render a ticket of just $35.  

How long to pay NYC parking tickets 

Payments can take up to two weeks to be processed and show up in the system.  

You have 30 days to pay a parking ticket, and after that, penalties have to be paid. After 30 days, the penalty is $10, and after 60 days, you’ll have to pay $20 plus the previous penalty. If you fail to pay even after 90 days, then the total amount payable will be $30 plus the previous penalty. After 100 days of non-payment, the ticket is entered into judgment. 

According to nyc.gov, you’ll have to pay a 2% processing fee if you pay with a card, PayPal, or Venmo. There is no processing fee for paying through checks or money orders.
