What is the average length of a car?

The average car usually measures around 14.7 feet in length. Depending on the manufacturer and model, this can change a bit. Still, most standard cars and trucks fall somewhere between 10 and 18 feet. A midsize sedan is usually around 14 feet long, but a smaller car comes in at roughly 10 feet.

The Chevrolet Spark (under 12 feet) is the shortest passenger car, and the Rolls-Royce Phantom (around 20 feet long) stands as the longest passenger car in the country. A full-size car has a length of around 15.7 feet.

The average car width is around 5.8 feet. The width varies due to aerodynamic performance or extra safety features. The Chevrolet Spark (5.2 feet) is the narrowest car in the country. Outside the ultra-luxury segment, the Tesla Model X is the widest vehicle, coming in at about 7.4 feet with its mirrors folded. Features like side airbags and lane-departure sensors can add to a car’s width, sometimes making it wider than a standard parking space.

• You can also check any online auto shop. Simply enter your license plate number, and it will pull up your specific vehicle, including its measurements and other key information. 
• Aftermarket parts can change your car’s length, but you can measure it by hand. For example, if your vehicle has a different bumper, the VIN decoder results will differ. Measure using a yardstick or a tape. To get the most precise result, measure underneath.
