Question

Which side is the gas pedal?

New drivers often get confused with the gas pedal and brake pedal. There is no harm in knowing which is which, right?

You may notice two or three pedals positioned below the steering wheel when you sit behind one for the first time. From right to left, they are the gas, brake, and clutch pedals. Nowadays, most of the cars are automatic, which means they do not have clutch pedals. So, if there are only two pedals, then the one on your right is the gas pedal or the accelerator, and the one on your left is the brake pedal.

The gas pedal is smaller than the brake pedal, which makes it easier to identify. You control the gas pedal with your right foot, and it can regulate your vehicle’s speed.
