MSP Airport Terminal 2

Terminal 2, officially known as the Humphrey Terminal, is the smaller of the two passenger terminals at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. Designed for convenience and shorter walking distances, Terminal 2 offers a streamlined travel experience while serving several domestic airlines and select international flights. It features modern passenger amenities, convenient parking, dining, shopping, and direct access to public transportation.

Named after former Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey, Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport Terminal 2 is located at 7150 Humphrey Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55450. It sits on a separate roadway from Terminal 1, roughly 3 miles away.

Unlike Terminal 1, which is divided into multiple concourses, Terminal 2 consists of a single concourse that serves all departing and arriving flights. Minneapolis Airport Terminal 2 features 16 gates and 2 security checkpoints across Concourse H, creating a simple layout that’s easy for first-time travelers to navigate. Restaurants, retail stores, airline gates, passenger seating, and other amenities are all located within the same secure concourse.

Because of its compact design, most gates can be reached within a short walk after clearing security, making connections and boarding more convenient.

Terminal 2 is home to several domestic airlines and leisure carriers. Sun Country is based at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport and calls Terminal 2 home. Airlines currently operating from Humphrey Terminal include:

• Sun Country Airlines

Since airline terminal assignments occasionally change, travelers should always confirm their departure terminal before arriving at the airport.

Checking in and getting through security at Terminal 2

Check-in, ticketing, and bag check for Terminal 2 all happen in the Ticketing Lobby on Level 1, with some airlines offering curbside check-in in front of the terminal. Check with your specific airline for hours and availability, since this varies by carrier.

Once you’re checked in, security checkpoints are located on Level 2. One checkpoint is located near the Orange Parking Ramp skyway and another near the Purple Ramp skyway. Both Checkpoint 1 and Checkpoint 2 are open from 4 a.m. until the last scheduled flight of the day. However, Checkpoint 2 is available only to TSA PreCheck, MSP RESERVE, and priority members.

All travelers must present an acceptable form of identification, such as a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another TSA-accepted ID, when passing through security.

Ground transportation at MSP Airport Terminal 2

At Terminal 2, rental car counters are available in the Ground Transportation Center on the ground level of the Purple Ramp, across from the terminal. Rideshare, taxis, limousines, and shuttle vans are also available through the terminal’s ground transportation area, with 24/7 shuttle pickup available on request. Travelers can find rideshare pickup on Level 2 of the Purple Parking Ramp.

The Terminal 2 METRO Blue Line station sits on the north side of the Orange Ramp. The METRO Blue Line connects Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at no charge.

Dining and shopping at Terminal 2

Although smaller than Terminal 1, MSP Airport Terminal 2 offers a good selection of restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, and retail shops for travelers waiting for their flights. Most dining and shopping options are concentrated around Concourse H Gates, allowing passengers to grab a meal or pick up travel essentials before boarding.

Terminal 2 is easily accessible from several major highways serving the Twin Cities.

If you’re driving from downtown Minneapolis, take I-494 east to the 34th Avenue exit. Exit at 34th Avenue and follow the signs to Terminal 2.

From St. Paul, take I-35E south to the W. 7th Street/MN-5 exit, turn right onto W. 7th Street/MN-5, and travel west on MN-5 past the Terminal 1 exit until you reach the 34th Avenue exit. Follow the signs to 34th Ave/Terminal 2, then turn right onto 34th Avenue and follow the signs to Terminal 2.

Located at Terminal 2, Value Parking is better suited for travelers leaving their car for a day or more. As the name suggests, the Hourly Parking lot is designed for stays of a few hours and is conveniently connected via skyway to Terminal 2.
