About SFO Terminal 1
SFO Terminal 1, also known as Harvey Milk Terminal 1, is the world's first airport terminal named after LGBTQ+ leader Harvey Bernard Milk. The terminal was the first to implement the tote-based Independent Carrier System (ICS) in the United States for managing checked luggage. It is one out of three domestic terminals at San Francisco International Airport and consists of Boarding Area B. The terminal with 25 gates is currently undergoing a significant renovation, which is expected to be completed by 2024. The renovation includes a new check-in lobby, security checkpoints, and gates.
