Question

How to pop a tire?

If you want to pop someone else’s tires because you have a bone to pick with them, let us warn you immediately that doing so is a criminal offense that can land you in jail.

What must you consider before slashing a tire?

If you are planning to pop a tire, here are certain things you need to keep in mind.

  • Since tires are strong and durable, you may need to apply a large force.
  • Puncturing a tire can cause a loud noise if you don’t deflate it.
  • You are likely to get injured during this process if you are not careful enough.
  • You may get into unnecessary issues if caught during or after the task.

How to pop a tire

You can pop a tire using two main tools

  • Knife
  • Nail

How to pop a tire with a knife

Puncturing a tire with a knife is difficult. It’s simple, but if your hands slip, you could injure yourself. So, avoiding using a knife to pop/puncture a tire is safe. You’ll also need a stronger knife than most pocket knives to pop a tire. Follow these steps if you’re slashing a tire with a knife.

Steps to follow

  • Get a strong and sharp knife.
  • Choose the tire you want to pop.
  • Place the tire between your legs and stand on your back. Kneel for additional stability.
  • Find an unreinforced area of the tire.
  • Start popping by making small grooves in the tire.
  • Back and forth gradually, applying a little more pressure every time.
  • After some cuts, insert the knife’s entire blade into the tire.

Remember that one good cut is enough to pop the tire. The larger/deeper the cut, the faster the tire deflates.

How to pop a tire with a nail

You must cut the tire with a knife from the side where there is no reinforcement. While using a nail, however, you must also pierce through the reinforcement. So, the nails must be sharp, hard, and strategically placed. As the tires roll, the car’s weight will do the rest. Follow these steps if you’re popping a tire with a nail.

Steps to follow

  • Get strong, sharp nails (2-3 inches or longer).
  • Twist the nails so that wind or insects won’t knock them down.
  • Place them in front of the tire, upside down.
  • Be careful about the placement of the nails.

If you place the nail correctly, it will begin piercing the tire as soon as it rolls. The nails will dig deeper with each rotation until they finally puncture it.
