Question

Why does your car overheat and won't start?

There are various reasons for the overheating of your car. Some of the common reasons include blown gaskets, coolant leaks, and faulty thermostats. No matter what the cause is, it's important to get it fixed promptly. Here are the common causes and their fixes:

Causes  Fixes
Blown Gasket   Replace the head gasket for major issues. If the issue is minor, consider using coolant system sealants.
Leaking Coolants  Find the source of the leak and fix that component with a sealant. If the damage is severe, replace the component.
Cracked or Melted Cylinder Heads  Welding, pinning, or epoxy/sealant applications can fix minor cracks in the cylinder heads. For severe damage, replacement is the only fix.
Faulty Thermostat  Replace the faulty one with a working thermostat.
Melted electronic sensors  Replacing all the broken sensors is the only solution.
Damaged Fuel System  Identify the part that’s causing the engine to overheat and then repair or replace it.
