The terminal opened in November 1963 as “Ticketing Building 6” and “Satellite 6.” The terminal opened as a multi-carrier terminal, which managed operations of carriers like Delta Air Lines, Pacific Air Lines, Pacific Southwest Airlines, and Continental Airlines.
Recently, Terminal 6 at LAX underwent renovations mainly to modernize the facilities, improve the passenger experience, and increase efficiency. The upgrades were related to the terminal layout, security checkpoints, passenger facilities, and concession spaces.
The terminal has two levels: Lower/Arrivals level and Upper/Departures level. The shortcut from the lower level leads you to Terminals 5, 6, 7, and 8. Whereas, the shortcut from the upper level takes you to Terminals 6, 7, and 8. You can exit the airport from both levels. The terminal comprises 16 gates: 60, 61, 62, 63A, 63B, 64A, 64B, 64C, 65A, 65B, 66, 67, 68A, 68B, 69A, and 69B.

To commute between the terminals, you can use the free LAX-it landside shuttle bus, which runs every few minutes and has stops at all terminals. Another way to commute between the terminals is to use the sidewalks on the double-level road. Once you’re inside the security area, use the airside walkways without clearing the security again. The walkways connect in the following order: Terminal 1, 3, B, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
