LGA Airport, famous as LaGuardia Airport or LaGuardia, is one of the main airports serving the New York City metropolitan area. The airport is located around 11.3 miles from Manhattan and covers an area of around 680 acres. LGA Airport has an average yearly passenger traffic of around 33.5 million, making it one of the busiest in the US. LaGuardia is a main hub for carriers like American Airlines and Delta Air Lines. If you’re flying out of the airport, it is best that you know the LGA Terminals and other amenities in detail.
The terminal is also famous as Marine Air Terminal (MAT), which was LGA’s original terminal for overseas flights. The terminal was apparently built for seaplane operations. You can locate LGA Terminal A on the western side of the airport. The departure area can be accessed from the circular art deco rotunda that takes you through to the check-in area. The departure concourse comprises six gates numbered A1 to A6, with arrivals located on the same level.
You can locate the terminal in the central portion of LGA, which has two concourses. It is one of the busiest terminals in the airport, as most major carriers fly out from here. LGA Terminal B serves as a large hub of American Airlines.
This terminal opened in 2022 and connects to four concourses that serve Delta Air Lines alone. The terminal also houses a Delta Sky Club lounge, the airline’s largest lounge.
Terminal A Parking, Terminal B Parking, and Terminal C Parking are the main parking lots that offer parking near the LGA Terminals. Terminal B and Terminal C parking lots are covered parking lots. However, the onsite parking rates tend to be on the higher side. Also, you aren’t guaranteed an LGA parking spot unless you preplan.
The best way to guarantee a parking spot is by reserving parking at an offsite lot nearby. Most lots are just a mile away from the airport and offer cheap parking rates when compared to the onsite lots. Most lots even offer a free round-trip shuttle service.
