Orlando International Airport in the United States of America is the busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic in Florida. With an average yearly passenger traffic of 57 million, MCO is one of the busiest airports in the world. As you’ll see on the map of Orlando Airport, there are around 13 onsite parking lots and several offsite parking lots nearby.
Sprawling over 12,600 acres, Orlando is one of the largest airports in the US and globally. The Orlando Airport map above will help you find your way around this huge airport. The airport was initially called McCoy Air Force Base. It was named after the United States Air Force Colonel Michael Norman Wright McCoy.
With the introduction of commercial jet airline service to the Orlando area in the early 1960s, the airport was converted into a civil-military facility. McCoy Air Force Base was scheduled to close after the Vietnam War. In early 1975, all Air Force flight operations came to an end. Until it was renamed Orlando International Airport, the airport was known as Orlando-McCoy Jetport.
