About Newark Airport

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, which originally opened its doors on October 1, 1928, is located about 15 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. EWR is one of three major airports servicing the New York metropolitan region, and it now services over 30 airlines. Newark Airport is a major hub for United Airlines, which operates from all three terminals and exclusively uses Terminal C. As you can see on the Newark Airport Map, EWR has 3 terminals – A, B, and C.

The Newark Airport parking map shows that the airport offers long-term and short-term parking onsite. There are also several offsite EWR parking lots near the airport.

Many aviation firsts have occurred at EWR, including the first paved runway and the first air traffic control tower in the United States. The airport can also lay claim to the first airport weather station and first airport post office. Today, EWR serves millions of domestic and international travelers each year, and it, like New York's LaGuardia and JFK International Airports, is undergoing extensive reconstruction and improvements.

Newark Airport terminals

Terminal A, Terminal B, and Terminal C are the three main passenger terminals at Newark Liberty International Airport. You can see on the map of Newark Airport that the terminals are placed in the shape of a semi-circle. Levels 1, 2, 3, and a Gate level between levels 2 and 3 are included in all three Terminals. The Gate level is divided into three sections, the first containing the security checkpoint.

Terminal A

Flights inside the United States and Canada depart from Terminal A. The terminal is divided into three concourses, A1, A2, and A3, each with its own security checkpoint. This means you'll have to re-clear security if you're connecting to an aircraft in the same terminal but on a different concourse.

Terminal B

Terminal B is EWR's major international terminal, featuring three concourses. Because there aren't many stores or eateries on the B2 concourse, travelers will have to rely on the facilities on the other two concourses. However, passengers may freely walk between the three concourses since the three security gates lead into a common concourse area.

Terminal C

United Airlines is the only airline in Terminal C for domestic and international flights. Just like the other terminals, Terminal C is divided into three concourses: C1, C2, and C3. Because the three security gates lead into a single concourse area, there is no need to re-clear security to enjoy the terminal's excellent assortment of shops and eateries.

How to get between the terminals at Newark Airport

United Airlines provides a courtesy shuttle service between terminals for Star Alliance aircraft guests.

These buses leave from near gates A28, B67, and C70 and ply within the secure area, eliminating the need for passengers to re-clear security upon arriving at the next terminal. Passengers arriving on overseas planes are excluded since they must clear customs and immigration upon arrival, which necessitates re-clearing security.

Buses run from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. between Terminals A and C and from Terminal B to other terminals from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
