About LAX Terminal 7 and 8
Beginning in 2009 and finishing in 2025, just in time for the 2028 Olympic Games, LAX is undergoing a massive $15 billion redevelopment project. These substantial changes include a new car rental center, improved roads, and an automated people mover is used to shuttle passengers between terminals and Metro Rail links. Because Terminal 8 relies on Terminal 7's facilities for passenger processing (ticketing, security screening, and baggage claim), it was formerly known as Concourse 8. As only United Airlines and United Express planes depart from Terminals 7 and 8, their ticketing and baggage claim areas are shared.
Though the airport's layout is straightforward, not all terminals are connected to one another. As a result, connecting flights may take longer than expected, particularly if passengers need to re-pass through security checks.
