Terminal B, commonly referred to as the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), is the exclusive terminal for international flights. The terminal was opened as the “West Side Terminal” on June 18, 1984, just some weeks before the beginning of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. The terminal was renamed to commemorate Tom Bradley, the first black and longest-serving mayor of LA.
As Tom Bradley International Terminal contributes a significant passenger count to LAX, it underwent a major revamp in stages between 2008 and 2021. The terminal’s center portion is famous as the “Great Hall” and has many restaurants, stores, and some lounges. A shuttle bus service takes passengers from Terminal 1 to the West Gates at Terminal B.
The terminal has four levels. You can find the baggage claim on Level 1, check-in at Level 3, and departures and security at Level 4. Tom Bradley International Terminal is divided into five main areas – North Concourse, South Concourse, Bus Gates, West Gates, and Bus Port. The terminal has 40 gates, numbered from 130 to 225.
Bus Port, located at West Gates, offers shuttle services for passengers from other LAX terminals to Terminal B. Meanwhile, the Bus Gates, located close to the North Concourse, offer shuttle services for passengers between the international terminal and nine satellite gates on the LAX airfield’s western side.
